Do you know how to use essential oils correctly? Do you know how to use essential oils correctly?

we read it for you

Proper dosage of essential oils ......

Pure essential oils and essences are highly concentrated substances, so the dosage must be strictly observed.

It is necessary to always keep in mind that by concentrating the formula more we are not going to have a greater effect. The mode of use that we specify refers only to external use, either through massage, bath or diffusion.

There are essential oils that should not be taken orally, others that cannot be diffused (in a diffuser) and others that should not be applied pure to the skin or used in a massage or bath.

Necessary precautions of essential oils:

  • Essential oils should NOT be used directly on the skin, or poured directly into the bathwater. For the most part, they must be applied previously diluted in a vegetable base. There are exceptions, but my advice is that if you do not know aromatherapy in depth, it is better not to apply them.

  • They should not be used prior to sun exposure, since some of them are photosensitizing. In general terms, you have to wait 6 to 8 hours before sun exposure.

  • Direct contact with mucous membranes should also be avoided. If, for any reason, an essential oil comes into contact with the ocular mucosa, do not wash with water. Moisten a cotton ball with whatever vegetable oil is on hand and gently clean the eyeball.

  • Essential oils should not be used during pregnancy and lactation. Except for some of them, although they should be advised by an aromatherapy specialist.

  • Formulas or blends of vegetable and essential oils should be stored in opaque containers and kept in a cool, dry place. Heat and direct light could alter them.

  • Essential oils are flammable substances, so they must be kept out of the reach of a flame or an incandescent body.

  • Essential oils must be kept away from electromagnetic sources.

  • Essential oils should be kept out of the reach of children.

Using aromatherapy, discovering it and applying it on a daily basis is a way of returning to nature and all that it can bring us.

Essential oils in diffusion ....

As I have said before, essential oils can be used in many ways: we can take them, put them on the skin and smell them. When we talk about smelling them, there are two main ways to do it: direct inhalation, either from the bottle or applying it to the wrists and bringing them to our nose, or using an essential oil diffuser.

What is an essential oil diffuser?

Diffusers are electronic devices that serve to diffuse essential oils in the environment, allowing us to benefit from their therapeutic use. They can work with or without water, so that they adapt to the need you have at that moment, or to your tastes.

The diffusion of essential oils can be used in different situations, the most prominent are:

  • Nervousness and difficulty sleeping . There are many essential oils with calming effects that can be used in diffusion. Among them stand out lavender and tangerine.

  • mosquitoes The diffusion of essential oils is very useful to protect us from their bites.

  • Prevent infections . With essential oils in diffusion we can prevent ourselves from infecting other people by disinfecting the atmosphere. Essential oils widely used for this are ravintsara and eucalyptus radiata. There are also synergies.

  • wellness . On a daily basis we may like to have essential oils diffusing to create a harmonious environment. For this, there is a wide range of synergies of different essential oils designed for daily use.

  • concentration . It is very useful to diffuse essential oils to help us in periods in which we need to concentrate. It would be especially useful if you are studying, as you need a high level of concentration and for a long time. Also for yoga or meditation classes.

Finally, pay attention to the doses of the diffuser, since most are concentrated oils and 2 or 3 drops of essential oil are enough to create the perfect environment. Read the instructions and recommendations of each manufacturer.
