How does fibroDAO® work?
FibroDAO® Diamine Oxidase (DAO) complements the body's own enzyme, which is responsible for metabolizing histamine. Taking a fibroDAO® capsule before each meal increases the amount of DAO in the small intestine and, therefore, the ability to break down histamine. This accelerates the processing in the digestive tract of the histamine present in food, which is the trigger of the symptoms. Thus, fibroDAO® restores histamine metabolism locally in the small intestine and restores the natural balance of histamine and DAO.
What is histamine?
Histamine is an essential molecule, a transmitter that belongs to the so-called group of biogenic amines and is naturally present in many foods, as well as within our cells. Normally, ingesting histamine contained in food does not cause problems, as it is quickly processed and metabolized by the enzyme Diamine Oxidase (DAO).
What is the DAO?
DAO is the main enzyme for the metabolism of ingested histamine. It is mainly found in the intestinal epithelium, where it absorbs and degrades ingested histamine, preventing it from passing into the bloodstream.
What happens if there is an imbalance between histamine and DAO enzymatic activity?
When there is an imbalance between the histamine ingested and the capacity or activity of the enzyme to metabolize it, histamine passes into the bloodstream and after disproportionate uptake by receptors in the tissues, it can trigger various reactions. Some causes of DAO Deficiency include genetic or acquired origins.
What foods contain histamine?

FibroDAO® Eficaps® capsules contain gastro-resistant tablets with controlled release of DAO in the intestine, which avoid the acidic pH of the stomach, and tablets that guarantee the immediate release of adjuvant ingredients. Each capsule contains four tablets: 2 white/beige DAO gastro-resistant tablets with intestinal release. 2 purple immediate-release tablets containing magnesium.

How should fibroDAO® be used?
Take 1 capsule with a little water 20 minutes before main meals (3 times a day). The capsule must be swallowed whole; If you cannot swallow it whole, open it and swallow the tablets separately, swallowing them whole without chewing, dividing or breaking. DAO tablets have a gastro-resistant coating that allows the enzyme Diamine Oxidase (DAO) not to be released in the stomach, but rather secretly in the small intestine, which is where it degrades the histamine ingested in the diet. Therefore, the tablets should be taken whole, without chewing, splitting or breaking before ingestion.
