Allimax International was formed on 11 August 1999, the day of the solar eclipse in the UK. However, the idea was brewing much earlier, back in 1982, when our Managing Director, Norman, was working as an International Water Civil Engineer and bought Garlic The Powerful Panacea from Paul Simons, for just 80p.
Reading this book was the start of my mission and I discovered that the parent compound, allicin, had antimicrobial properties. From there, I thought that if it was so good, why wasn't it widely available At the time, I was working as a civil engineer in the water industry and I started to wonder why we were using chlorine to treat water. Chlorine is a very abrasive and harsh chemical that kills life in our environment, estuaries, rivers and seabeds. So, I embarked on a quest to change the way water was treated.
Since the 1980s, Norman has dedicated himself to researching and testing the powerful properties of garlic and is now considered an expert on many aspects of the powerful properties of allicin.
As a frequent user of garlic supplements, Norman had already noticed that the active components of garlic have a beneficial effect on good health and well-being. With further discoveries from reading the book, the idea of using one of these active ingredients, allicin, was born.
We did not know that this discovery would lead us to manufacture a world first in the stabilization of allicin and that allicin, once stabilized, could be used as a food supplement. Another world first. From this moment of enlightenment, ALLIMED® and ALLICINMAX® were born.
Today, we supply our unique, stabilised allicin-based products to health food stores, health professionals and consumers across the UK and export to over 40 countries worldwide. We continue to support research into this important active ingredient, allicin, and look forward to future developments of allicin-based products.
