The stomach produces hydrochloric acid naturally. As we age, our body begins to decline and the stomach is no exception. With age, hydrochloric acid production often decreases, but it remains important for the breakdown of food in the intestine.
Hydrochloric acid has several functions, for example, it sterilizes the ingested food and activates a powerful enzyme called pepsin that breaks down proteins, as well as allowing vitamin B12 to be extracted from the ingested food. After these processes, the food then passes to the intestine, where it is further metabolized to extract its different nutrients.
The tablets of this supplement are designed to dissolve in the stomach, which is where acidification is required, as it releases hydrochloric acid, the same acid that is naturally produced in the stomach (but does not alter gastric acidity). In this way it helps replace some of the acidity lost in the stomach, thus cooperating in the digestion of food.
The tablets are small, tasteless and easy to take. In addition, our formula is deliberately low in concentration to allow flexibility in adjusting intake to individual requirements.
