What is Orthomol® Natal?
Orthomol® Natal is a food supplement. Important micronutrients for preconception, pregnancy and lactation. Orthomol® Natal contains a combination of folic acid and Quatrefolic®. Quatrefolic® is an active form of folic acid, which is available to the body without prior conversion and therefore has a higher bioavailability. Folic acid contributes to the growth of maternal tissue during pregnancy. Supplemental intake of folic acid increases folate levels in pregnant women. Low maternal folate is a risk factor for neural tube defects in the developing fetus. The beneficial effect is obtained with a supplementary intake of 400 ?g of folic acid per day for a period of at least one month before and up to three months after conception (Target group: women of childbearing age). Maternal intake of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) contributes to the normal development of the brain and eyes of the fetus and infant.

The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 200 mg of DHA, in addition to the recommended daily omega-3 fatty acid intake of 250 mg of DHA and EPA. Iron contributes to the normal formation of red blood cells and hemoglobin. Choline contributes to normal homocysteine metabolism. Calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, vitamin D, vitamin B12 and folate contribute to the cell division process. Vitamin C, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, vitamin D, folic acid, iron, zinc, selenium and copper contribute to the normal functioning of the immune system. Important observations
? Orthomol® Natal contains iodine. If you suffer from thyroid disease, please consult your doctor before taking Orthomol® Natal.
? In case of glucose tolerance disorders, use only under careful metabolic control (6.1 g of carbohydrates per daily serving).
? Neural tube defects can also have causes other than insufficient folic acid intake. Therefore, increasing the level of folate cannot prevent the formation of defects in the neural tube in all cases. ? During pregnancy the requirement for iron and often also for magnesium is particularly high. Therefore, an additional contribution of these substances may be necessary.
