This new formula is unique and comes in the form of One a Day. It is also a synergistic combination of omega 3 fatty acids, with lutein, zeaxanthin and vitamin D3.
As with our original, successful Eyewise®, available in our range, we have included zeaxanthin as well as 20 mg of pure lutein in ?free form?, which is ready to be absorbed.
Lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids that are not produced in the body, so they must be obtained from the diet, especially from green leafy vegetables.
In plants, lutein is produced to protect cellular contents from damage by sunlight.
Our bodies can use lutein in the same way when it is deposited in the macula, where it filters out harmful wavelengths of sunlight that can harm the delicate light-receptor cells in the macula.
Like all carotenoids, lutein is an antioxidant and may therefore play a role in protecting macular tissue from damage caused by harmful free radicals.
Furthermore, numerous studies indicate that omega-3 fatty acids may also be especially important in preserving and maintaining healthy eyes, especially as we age.
For this reason, we have included a total of 356 mg of omega 3 per capsule, providing 250 mg of DHA which contributes to the maintenance of normal vision.
In addition, the pure fish oil we use is highly certified from sustainable fisheries and is produced under strict GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) manufacturing standards, which are rigorously controlled by the Medicines Control Agency of the Department of Health of the United Kingdom.
It is increasingly known that vitamin D is important for much more than bone health.
There is also emerging evidence in clinical research linking vitamin D to ocular well-being. Eyewise® Omega 3 provides vitamin D3 at 100% of the Nutrient Reference Value (NRV) for adults.
Vitamin D is also essential for bones and can slow the progression of osteoporosis, strengthen the immune system, and help prevent some health disorders. There are many studies that support the argument that we should all watch our vitamin D intake.
Vitamin D helps reduce the risk of falls related to postural instability and muscle weakness.
Falls are a risk factor for bone fractures in men and women over 60 years of age.
This benefit is achieved with a daily dose of 20 µg per day.
